With less than 157 kiwikiu left in the wild, this bird is expected to be extinct by 2026. Kiwikiu are a critically endangered Hawaiian honeycreeper found only on Maui. They are disappearing due to a deadly disease spread by invasive mosquitoes-- avian malaria. Funding for kiwikiu conservation is desperately needed in order to save this species.
