Kūmū or whitesaddle goatfish is endemic Hawaiian fish. Translating to good looking or handsome, these beautiful red fish are sought after and praised among Hawaiʻi fishermen. Their diets consist mainly of crustacean and small invertebrates and they like to live in nearshore areas with a mixture of sand, reef, boulders and often a fresh water source.
